New Vostok Europe watch line "Energia"

This watch line is a good example of successful cooperation between the Vostok Europe Designer Konstantin Markin from Vilnius and movement Alexanders Zajtsev from Chistopol (Vostok Watch factory).
The design of the case was developed especially for the new asymmetrical movement modification 2441 of the basic caliber 2416.
The name of this watch is dedicated to Energia, a Soviet rocket that was designed by NPO Energia to serve as a heavy-lift expendable launch system as well as a booster for the Buran Space Shuttle. It had the capacity to place around 100 metric tons in Low Earth orbit.

Fifty years ago, in 1957, the space age was truly born, as Sputnik sent back its first signals from orbit.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Spaceflight, Volmax introduces the new Sturmanskie Sputnik watches.
On the dial of the Sputnik watch the Globe is shown and a red "Sputnik" circles the orbit as an additional second hand. The capital of Russia, Moscow, is marked on the world map as a red star.
Sturmanskie Sputnik are limited to 500 pieces each model. The movement used in Sputnik watches is the caliber 2614.02 manufactured by Vostok in its further improved version. More Information

Vostok Automatic 2416 is used in the new Aviator series

The new Buran with small second at "6" has the case size of 40 x 37 mm. The two-level case with a change of polished and matted surfaces lends its attraction to this watch. Expedition Around the World: Expedition is looking for traces of Russia in the world

8 March 2007 the Vladivostok lighthouse saw the start of the first Expedition Around the World. For the first time ever, orange jeeps will be transported by helicopter from continent to continent. On two orange jeeps, the six-strong Expedition team will cross North and South America, Europe and the whole of Russia. In 2008 Expedition plans to go to Asia and Africa.
The aim of the journey – to look for “traces of Russia” in the world (people, unusual traditions, settlements, cultural monuments, Russian cultural influence on the history of other peoples of the world, scientific and geographical discoveries).

24 April – 7 May 2007–first stage of Expedition Around the World. Around North America: USA (Alaska), Canada, West Coast USA, Mexico.
September 2007 – second stage of Expedition Around the World. Takes in South America: Peru, Chili, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.
January 2008 – third stage of Expedition Around the World. Takes place in Europe: Portugal – Spain – France – Germany – Denmark – Sweden – Norway/ Finland – Russia (Murmansk).
23 February – 8 March 2008 – fourth stage of Expedition Around the World. Expedition Trophy 2008, the world's longest winter off-roader race, itinerary - Murmansk–Vladivostok

There is no necessity to speak about traditional connections between Russian Aviation History and Russian watches that were gradually established for decades. Unfortunately, after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 90-ies, a lot of long-lasting traditions were neglected and some of them nearly forgotten. Some years later, however, when common sense began to rule the “new” Russia, the wish to revive the best of the traditions turned out to be stronger than the difficult circumstances of the "free" market and, so, the hope to gain the best of the Soviet past considerably increased.
Not such a long time, just a couple of decades ago, Soviet pilots received Poljot Sturmanskie watches as part of their equipment and inventory. This tradition was lost…
Volmax, the manufacturer of the Russian watch brands Aviator, Buran and Sturmanskie brings new hope for the revival of traditions between Russian Aviation History and Russian watches.

The latest project of Volmax is aimed at bringing Russian Aviation and Russian watches together. Volmax started the initiative about partnership and cooperation with the best Russian and one of the world´s best-known NATs (National Aerobatic Team) of highest piloting skills “Strizhi” – Swifts (currently flown Aircraft: MIG-29). The Swifts supported the initiative and signed a collaboration agreement with Volmax. The first, very important step was successfully made.

To honour Strizhi on the day of their 15th anniversary (May/06/2006) the director of Volmax presented an Aviator watch to each member of the legendary team. Besides, financial support in form of overalls, bags DSHK and full equipment with the Aviator logo for all flying staff of the team was provided by Volmax.
The “Swifts” in their turn advertise Aviator watches and the Aviator logo. The pilots tested the reliability of two Volmax watches: Aviator 3105-6973646 (Poljot movement, manual winding. Sub second-hand) and Sturmanskie 3133-1743462 (chronograph, Poljot movement, manual winding) in aerobatic flights with positive results. The Aviator logo is carried by every Swift aerobatic plane and for air-shows the members of the NAT Swifts are dressed in overalls with the Aviator logo .

To strengthen this connection Volmax is planning to create multi- functional chronographs with distinguished design for aerobatic flight pilots. Both The Volmax Company and the Swifts hope, that their fruitful cooperation will remain mutually benefitial and will contribute to the revival of good traditions.

Vostok Europe black PVD-plated bracelets for RocketN1 and K-3 series are available now.
PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition, which is used to form coatings to alter the mechanical, thermal, optical, corrosion resistance, and wear properties of the substrates. In PVD processes, the workpiece is subjected to plasma bombardment. In the examples of watch cases and bracelets the coating is usually black (or dark gun-colour) and is extremely hard and durable.
